Sigma 6 is primarilly a character-based toyline, at least the 8" version, anyway. But Hasbro seems to do a terrific job taking these characters and really building them up with amazing accessories, and making those accessories highly desirable. As cool as an armored Duke is, you cannot doubt that the weapons and gear are what is driving many of these figures, Sigma Strike Duke included.

The centerpiece of this figure is without a doubt the backpack. Of course it's the power source for these weapons, housing the batteries and the electronics that really make this stuff work. But it also adds some awesome bulk to the figure, some great design flair, and two very nice rotating jump jets (that also light up!). I really, REALLY love this backpack.

Of course, by necessity, it's permenantly attached to the weapon housing, so the electronics can properly power the weapons, but that works for me. The only thing I think is slightly lacking is that storage for the weapon housing on the backpack would have been great. A simple peg/hole system so that the gun could be stored would be great. Still, that's a minor complaint, considering how solid this whole set up is. It almost FEELS powerful. Great, great work on the backpack and this weapon housing. They even managed to make the cable joining the two look nice and realistic at the 8" scale.

The aforementioned weapon housing has a great handle design, though the side handle you see above works better when holding those larger weapons. Mounting weapon attachments to this housing works quite well, with a tab-based locking joint that restricts you to installing the attachment only the correct way. The weapon attachments all hold well (though the long-barreled Laser Cannon seems a little glitchier, most likely just due to it's size) and even this housing looks impressive. A small green button located on the top rear activates the weapon-specific sounds and launches any projectiles.

The Power Pulse blaster is my default weapon and my favorite one at that. It's nicely sized, but still looks like it could pack a punch, and the overall design is very modern and very cool. With a combination laser pulse blaster and more high powered launcher mounted underneath, it seems like a great all-purpose weapon. I love the rocket launcher sounds, though I'd have enjoyed a regular laser blast, too. The backpack has a default machine gun sound in the middle button, though, so that's cool.

I'm not sure how functional this power cutter saw is...I suppose it could be used as a great "break in" tool to get into storage facilities or COBRA installments. That actually would work quite well! I think I've just found a new use for this weapon and I already like it more. I can now see Sigma Strike Duke using this saw to hack through a wall, break in, and unload with his heavy weapon, tearing through the enclosed B.A.T.s. Okay, I now like this thing quite a bit more. It also makes a pretty neat saw noise and activates a cool green light around the blade.

The Flame Blaster is the next attachment, and it also has a very nice design scheme. The slanted, vented barrel, semi-translucent fuel tank, cool flamethrower sound effects and strobing lights all add up to a very neat looking weapon. I'm not normally a huge flamethrower fan, and this isn't my favorite weapon attachment of the bunch, but it undoubtedly serves the purpose it was meant to serve, and still looks pretty neat while it's at it.

Then, of course, is the Laser Cannon, the showpiece of Sigma Strike Duke, and the weapon they package him with, hoping that the sheer size and coolness will help drive people to pick this up. It is absolutely an impressive looking piece of offensive technology. It's almost too big to be real functional to me personally...I prefer the smaller Pulse Blaster. But there's no doubt about how simply cool this weapon looks, and the flashing green light that screams down the inside of the barrel when the laser sounds just rocks. Very nice work on this weapon as well.

Duke also comes with this great helmet and visor with an awesome translucent green facemask and visor-mounted scopes. I love the shape, love the size, and just really dig how this whole thing looks. The visor doesn't stay on exceptionally well, but for display purposes it just looks terrific. I love it.

The Switchfire w/ holster and shoulderpads are the last accessories Sigma Strike Duke comes with, and all compliment the figure perfeclty, really rounding off a great supply of accessories. Terrific, terrific gear which make an already cool figure even cooler. The armored figure itself is very, very cool, but these awesome functional, nicely designed accessories all just make the figure even better. Well worth the money, and I highly recommend a purchase here, it is a fun, fun figure and a great display piece.
